The New Landscape Series
These suburban spaces have a haunting effect, a hollow tone that penetrates steel and bone. The images are made as much from my psyche as from silver or pixel. The photographs are anchored by classical concerns: figure to ground relationships, a frame based on the golden rectangle, chiaroscuro. I have emptied the skies to amplify the tone of these spaces. At full scale, the spaces reveal nuances: jets flying above roofs, helicopters above streets, skid marks on the road. I wanted to document these places as they are—full of juxtaposition, irony, and chilling tone.

Each image is printed at 25" x 40" on Somerset Velvet Paper with Iris Quadtone inks.
